2016 MCAD Faculty Biennial

August 26. 2016 – September 25, 2016

Reception: Friday, September 9, 6:00-9:00 p.m. with special screenings by Jason Coyle, Tom Schroeder, and Ziyang Wu beginning at 8:00 p.m. in Auditorium 150.

MCAD is pleased to be spotlighting the art and research undertaken by both full- and part-time faculty in the 2016 MCAD Faculty Biennial. This year some fifty faculty members in the college’s design, fine arts, media arts, entrepreneurial studies, and liberal arts departments will be participating in an exhibition in the Main, Concourse, and Black Box Galleries, installing work in the MCAD Sculpture Garden, and presenting papers, film screenings, performances, and readings as part of a Faculty Forum Series.

The wide variety of media and formats will showcase the breadth of the faculty’s expertise and offer audience members multiple opportunities to visit MCAD’s campus. Although our faculty are always asserting themselves in innovative ways, artists and scholars are always connected to what has come before them. And instead of blindly championing the next new thing, faculty members have been asked to consider: “What artistic ghosts are you chasing?”

The special screenings during the September 9 reception will include a short excerpt of a new film by Jason Coyle titled Deer of North America; two recent animated films, Isola del Giglio and The Sparrow’s Flight, by Tom Schroeder; and the video piece The Story of the Pig by Ziyang Wu.
